On the morning of 17 January, 40 mentees and mentors gathered for YWLC’s Community Day, organised by the Mentorship Subcommittee. Designed as a space for connection, the session brought together mentees across the programme to strengthen relationships, exchange experiences, and grow into a more thoughtful and connected community.
Held at Bynd Artisan at Raffles City, the morning invited participants to step beyond their immediate mentorship circles and learn from one another’s journeys, amplifying shared learning through collective reflection.
Opening Perspectives: Journey through building a Brand

In her opening remarks, Winnie Chan, Co-Founder and CEO of Bynd Artisan, reflected on the spirit of reinvention and resilience in reimagining her family’s legacy. Drawing from her own journey, she shared three anchors for navigating change:
Courage: continuing to move forward even before certainty is clear
Values: serving as a steady compass as roles and organisations evolve
Trust in oneself: built through small, consistent actions over time
Her reflections resonated deeply with participants navigating their own transitions, reminding us that growth often happens quietly, through intentional choices made day by day.
Winnie’s reminder that ‘titles change, organisations evolve — but when you’re clear on your values, your decisions become clearer and your consistency builds trust’ landed deeply. It felt like a grounding checkpoint: as we grow, the real question is not what we’re doing next, but who we’re becoming. The session challenged me to ask, very honestly, What do I want to be known for?
Bonding Over Shared Experiences

The morning concluded with a hands-on workshop facilitated by the team at Bynd Artisan, who shared their craft and passion for creating leather accessories using upcycled materials.
Through live demonstrations and guided crafting, participants created their own handmade pieces while engaging in meaningful conversations, exchanging stories, and reflecting on their shared experiences within the programme. The activity became a natural catalyst for connection, creativity, and community, offering a relaxed and thoughtful space for relationships to deepen beyond formal mentorship conversations.
"Community Day was a wonderful opportunity to connect and reconnect with fellow members of YWLC in a relaxed setting filled with meaningful conversations and lighthearted moments. I especially appreciated being able to bring home the crafts we created which I can now cherish as a tangible reminder of the community and of mentor Winnie’s wise words. What truly stood out to me, however, were the people. The event felt like a microcosm of what YWLC represents: a space where women are encouraged to pursue their passions, supported by a community that believes in their goals and dreams."

YWLC extends our sincere thanks to Bynd Artisan for co-hosting the event and for their generosity in sharing their space, time, insights, and expertise with our community. This experience allowed us to reconnect with purpose, be re-inspired, and deepen our relationships through shared moments and conversations.
