The journey was not easy – after six years of experimentation, Jamie Koh finally found a recipe that could truly encapsulate the heart of Singapore. On 6 December 2019, YWLC organised a gin distillery tour, followed by an intimate question-and-answer session with Jamie, the founder of Brass Lion Distillery, Singapore’s first micro-distillery that brews a distinctly Singaporean dry gin. The year for the CE sub-committee concluded with Headstart: Starting Her Career Right, our first-ever joint initiative by YWLC and Luxasia Foundation that seeks to empower our young girls to kickstart their careers. Looking Back on a Year of 100 Wishes

2019 was a fruitful year with the expansion and growth of YWLC’s Community Engagement (CE) flagship programme 100 Wishes, led by the CE sub-committee. 100 Wishes is a year-long series of skills-based workshops organised for women and children beneficiaries at crisis centres. This year, our programme was run in partnership with Star Shelter, a facility under the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO). In 2019, 100 Wishes encompassed five workshops of various themes, including our first-ever volunteer-run Picnic in the Park in the beautiful Botanic Gardens in November.
