Participants of the Future Women Leaders Forum (YWLC’s postponed annual flagship event for undergraduates and fresh graduates) were invited to an exclusive webinar on 16 June 2020.
Sabrina Ho, founder of Half the Sky, shared career tips for the fresh and undergraduate attendees on the following topics:
Applying for jobs with a purpose, and learning to be your own career manager
Being adaptable in the current job climate
Standing out with your resume
Using LinkedIn effectively
Being focused on your transferable skills, aptitude and attitude in virtual interviews
Sabrina also addressed participants’ burning questions on how to impress an interviewer virtually, reaching out and networking over LinkedIn, and standing out whilst in a remote internship. In addition, she also shared her insights on skills that would be in demand in the Covid/post-Covid economy, as well as the opportunities and need for pivoting between industries in this uncertain market.
Participant key takeaways
Participants were thereafter invited to an informal virtual networking session, during which they got to discuss scenario situations with YWLC facilitators as well as to network with other attendees in smaller groups.
The discussion that took place over the Remo platform was extremely lively and engaging, with participants sharing skills they picked up during the circuit breaker period to give their CVs a boost, what they have been doing to destress and stay on top of working from home and how their firms have adapted by focusing on other service areas.
